About us

Eden Development is a financial capacity building organisation focusing on the needs of NGOs operating in developing countries. Our training programmes are geared to foster an informal and participatory environment in which participants are empowered to learn. Our aim is to build competency in NGOs to develop their client communities with the skills and opportunities to achieve their full potential.

Our Founder

James D. Meyer is the founder and driving force behind Eden Development. He is a finance industry veteran with more than 25 years spent in commercial banking, corporate financial management, and the not-for-profit sector. He spent the early part of his career with a top five global bank, where he held various executive positions in branch management and corporate banking in Singapore and Hong Kong. He experienced the full range of credit activities from credit card advances, to commodity-based financing, to large syndicated loans. James progressed on to head the regional finance and treasury function of a multi-national corporation in the electronics manufacturing industry. James has always held a passion for developing people, so when the opportunity arose, he went on to head a regional training consultancy as an accredited provider of skills-based training to the Singapore Government. Most recently, James served four years as the Regional Deputy Director, Finance & Programmes with the Leprosy Mission International.

James obtained his MBA (Finance & Investment) from the University of Hull in the United Kingdom, and his BA (Economics & Philosophy) from the University of Singapore. James also attended the Ashridge Management College in the United Kingdom. His knowledge areas also include Accounting, General Insurance, and Risk Management.
