Programme Details
The objective of this five-day workshop is to develop the core financial skills required to raise the competency level of staff at project level. Its focus is on learning with understanding, so as to build their confidence level, their capacity for empowerment and decision making ability.
It will benefit those involved in project management and budgeting in the NGO development sector. A background in accounting or finance is not required.
This workshop presents both the theoretical and practical aspects of financial management and systems of accountability in projects, and their linkage to good project management for the achievement of strategic goals.

- The role of financial management in the project cycle
- Understanding financial statements
- The treatment of fixed assets, the asset register, and depreciation
- Cost control using budget variance analysis
- Developing accountability in internal controls and systems
- Budgeting for operations: programme vs support activities
- Cash flow planning and seasonality issues
- Banking matters, petty cash, and cash advance reconciliation
- Accountability in procurement, payroll, per diems, travel, training, communication, and volunteer expenses
- Ethical considerations in decision making
- Grant management and multicurrency issues
- Preparation for audit and year-end reviews
Learning Features
All participants will receive a Training Needs Analysis questionnaire form for their completion.
The workshop methodology is to combine the use of interactive facilitation supported by participatory learning through case studies, creative thinking exercises, group exercises and presentations by the participants. This is followed by a complimentary three-month period of expert tutor support by email for all participants.

Payment Method & Details
Your investment per participant for the five-day programme is US$900. Group incentives are available.
When the dates and location have been confirmed, and on receipt of your completed registration request, we will invoice you for the full payment, with the details of Eden Development’s bank account in Singapore.
Terms & Conditions
- The programme is non-residential.
- Printed notes, and printed worksheets are included.
- The programme will run from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily. Lunch and two tea-breaks are provided.
- All prices are net. Your registration will be confirmed on receipt of payment.
- Acceptance of bookings is subject to the limited availability of places, full advance payment, and formal confirmation of acceptance on the course. We are unable to offer refunds or cancellations. If you are unable to attend, a substitute is welcome at no extra charge. All requests for changes must be notified in writing.
- Eden Development reserves the right to postpone the programme due to exceptional external circumstances beyond our control. However, we are unable to compensate for any prepaid expenses already incurred, including flights, accommodation, etc.
